Plato's Republic

There is a happy country where people spend their lives singing in fiestas and circus spectacles, in solemn religious ceremonies, making love, and at street festivals. They have few children and live longer than anyone else. Their land is very large, with mountains and rivers, in the best latitude on Earth. They have no real enemies, so they invent imaginary invasions to feel alive. Who works? Plato already solved this issue: "We shall have slaves". Spain has a large underclass of North African and Saharan legal immigrants that do the necessary work. They govern themselves as a democracy, and the majority of the voters are unemployed and pensioners. Logically, most of the resources are channeled to their welfare, leaving the economy stagnant. But life is easy and careless. Has Spain achieved Plato's republic?
