Ella

Ella is my 2 y.o. granddaughter. Yesterday we took her to the playground. She started collecting leaves and bringing them to me. She is very attentive to the environment and understands all but is not speaking yet. Hod Hasharon was full of young witches going to Halloween parties.

Lili

Two weeks ago I discovered Twitter, and Lili, a 24 y.o. twitterist with 3000 followers. The fat raccoon above is NOT Lili, but her banner, how she sees herself. Obviously, this is a girl with self-image and self-worth issues. She also posted a passport pic and a full body pic in the mirror. She is a perfectly nice clear-eyed Tel Aviv girl. She twits a lot. A lot! The obvious question is why and the obvious answer is to attract attention and get asked out by a suitable boy. She wrote: "To be a good girl from a good family does not bring boys to the yard". In the original: חצר that also means court or playground. She revealed that she already comes with "neduniya" (dowry) without saying that: "My grandmother gave me a present דורון apartment, but I would like to return it so the boys will want me for a present and not me for the present" (free translation of her high Hebrew. She is very intelligent.).

A boy commented something. Lili: "You are dying for me". The boy: "I like you only on twitter because here I can have you in small portions". Lili is taking Biology and "Gender studies" at Gilman Bldg. of Tel Aviv University. Her parents came to visit her from the exclusive Artists' Village where they live. Lili introduced a friend. The friend: How do you do?  Father: "Are these gender studies also rotting your brain?"

She mentions her family, of the Old German Jewish elite. The grand-uncle founded the Technion, aunt Trude is a known painter. A friendly girl warned her to hide these details because boys are easily intimidated.

A gentleman should never read the intimate diary of a young girl, but isn't it fascinating? I never paid two seconds of attention to the sentiments of anybody, less than all of the crying girls. Goodness gracious! I am growing sentimental (=senile)!

P.D.: There is no anonymity on the internet. I found out - easily - her name and the name of his father, who is a professional copywriter. Lili's only problem is that she is taller than average Israeli boys. I understand it is a big problem for her. With this, hereby I am stopping reading her and her friends' chitchat.

P.D.: 12-11-21 She writes    EDSחחחחח אני אנמית ויש לי RainbowSmiling face with tear
That explains all. She is anemic and has EDS. That is why she complains of being too tall. No fun at all. I'll stop here.

Inclusive excellence at Harvard

The healthy fat-ass chocolate-skinned lady with good teeth is the person charged with bringing inclusive excellence (*) to Harvard University. Interviewed about what she had accomplished in her first 14 months, she talked about ... nothing. Oh yes, she recorded 500 hours of hearing Black students' complaints. About one hour per day. I wonder for how long Harvard will maintain this blatant fakery. The people in Harvard are extreme leftists, very much for equity, but not that stupid. On the other hand, she must have saved the faculty five hundred hours of having to deal with Black students' emotional accusations of ancestral racism and oppression, and loud emotional crying. Her contribution to Harvard is worth any salary she may be drawing. Priceless. My personal memories about Negresses are their strong muscles and vivid purple vulva. I worked a year in Nigeria.

(*) "Inclusive excellence is a framework that embraces inclusivity and equity as foundational to the true excellence espoused in Harvard’s mission ".

Embraces what? Espouses what? Meaning what?

Buying ICL

Potash: The $600 current price is above the $580 average for 2013.  Yes but discounting inflation?
a dollar today is worth only 84% of a dollar in 2012.  And 2012-3 were years of Mr Doyle's magic monopoly. Anyway, price is increasing more than inflation, I shall keep hoarding ICL stock.

Sweets Factory

Working on a sweets factory. The cooking equipment will stand in the middle. The room will be full of chocolate and whipped egg albumina, that is why it needs so many drains. Yesterday I bought the competing product of Unilever, and found that it is 51% sugar. Children love it.

Yom Mooledet (Birthdays)

We celebrated the birthdays of two grandkids in a park in Harish.

At home went to sleep my siesta and dreamed of Hungary after its liberation by the Red Army. The Communist government organized public trials against Zionist leaders, and hanged Rajk who was no Zionist but Communist from a non-Soviet fraction. Rakosi and Gero were interrogating me and I told them that we Zionists had no interest at all in the regime and its intrigues, we had dollars from American donors, which were most valuable in post-WWII Europe. I proposed a discrete transfer of Hungarian Jewish survivors to Eretz Israel. They were interested and assigned me a side office to organize it.

All my life had this recurrent dream of saving Hungarian Jewry.

Talking abut INTEL

They had a very decent and profitable year, yet the stock fell 10%. The commenters say it is because of expectations, they have a large capex that will start to pay back in two years. INTEL is very cheap, compared with Taiwan Semi and others. I'd buy but I am much concerned about America as a country.

Underestimating China

Thomas Friedman latest column in the NYTimes:

I used to worry that Xi’s big idea — “Made in China 2025,” his plan to dominate all the new 21st-century technologies — would leave the West in the dust. But I worry a little less now. I have great respect for China’s manufacturing prowess. Its homegrown chip industry is still good enough to do a lot of serious innovation, supercomputing, and machine learning.

But the biggest thing you learn from studying the chip industry is that all its most advanced technologies today are so complex — requiring so many inputs and super-sophisticated equipment — that no one has the best of every category, so you need a lot of trusted partners.

And if China thinks it can get around that by seizing Taiwan just to get hold of TSMC, that would be a fool’s errand. Many of the key machines and chemicals TSMC uses to make chips are from America and the European Union, and that flow would immediately be shut down.

Nope, you can’t make the best chips in the world today without silicon or trusted partners. And everything that Xi is doing — from Australia to Taiwan to Jack Ma — is driving them away. As one U.S. chip executive said to me of Xi, “The Chinese have replicated and mimicked,” but they have never created the kind of ecosystem like TSMC’s, “because there is no trust.”

It seems to me incredible that for the NYT - the most serious paper in the world - the Chinese are incapable of outcompeting INTEL and TSMC because the Chinese have no trust and cannot have trusted partners. The Chinese, he quotes, have replicated and mimicked, but have never created...". What an imbecility! It is almost racist...  One has only look at China 2021 (or better, to Chinese robots on the moon and Mars) to understand Chinese capabilities. To write that they cannot do it because they are untrustable is nonsense. It only points to the desperation of the American and world industry. Not long ago, the same was said about the Japanese, till they destroyed American electronic, photographic and auto industries.

I am not happy about the Chinese destroying INTEL but any action must be based on truth and reality, hard as may be, and never on racist phantasies.

Distracting the Builders of Israel

Building is the largest sector of the economy and thousands of parasites are asphyxiating it. Now a new - and very powerful - predator has appeared: the Ministry of Health. They are demanding vastly more comprehensive studies of the health influences of standard building projects. I am familiar with menstruating secretaries complaining of headaches because of the bad vibes of the building. Fen shu is a very effective remedy. But even today, you cannot build a mini boutique hotel without years of planning and permitting. More work for ghostbusters, and for encyclopedic permitting experts like me, but I am already overworked and over-scheduled. And I reached a point where I'd prefer a meaningful, ethical type of work.

Mixing Work and Play

And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the spirit (nešāmâ) of life; and man became a living soul.—Genesis 2:7; cf. Qur’an 32:7-9.

I breathed in its nostrils and now the metallic creature got a living (clockwork) soul, yet shows no signs of intelligence, artificial or otherwise. Maybe it is my soul the one missing intelligence. Now, the robot is working and I am playing. Wasting time, anyway.

Arnold Kling Thinks about Inflation

 From Arnold Kling's Blog:

I think of inflation as causing the following problems: it rewards the most alert and aggressive economic actors, and it punishes people who are passive and habitual; it interacts with the tax system to reduce productive investment; and it makes planning for the future difficult, particularly when it comes to buying a home.

I also think that inflation hurts the middle class and the poor more than it hurts the rich, because inflation creates confusion, and rich people are better able to navigate through the confusion.

Big-Assed Girls

Yesterday my daughter (26 y.o.) took us out to a crowded "hipster" coffee house. The waitresses circulated among the public seated on low chairs. I am an old flâneur yet never experienced such impressive big asses at eye level and zero distance.

Jew with a good head.

My head is still useful for something.

A Conspiracy I can believe in

So if it sounds like "the crusade against climate change" is one giant con game meant to enrich a handful of kleptocrats here and now, while the nebulous benefits - and the all too certain debt and hyperinflation - of this revolutionary overhaul of the global economy are inherited by future generations, it's because that's precisely what it is. Source

I know nothing about global warming. In my latest drainage report, found that rainfall is NOT decreasing nor significantly increasing in Israel. But fighting climate change, objectively, functions as a war: it makes overtaxing and national indebtment acceptable. It also frightens oil exporters. The future Earth may - or may not - be cleaner, that is uncertain, but we are being over-taxed today, that is certain.

TASE - Tel Aviv Stock Exchange

The total value of the companies traded on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange (TASE) passed above the one trillion shekel threshold last month, equaling $310.1 billion. The increasing prominence of Israeli stocks on the global stage is led by the country's technology sector. In fact, Israel is one of the most tech-forward markets in the world outside of the U.S. and some Asian economies.

The total value of all the companies traded on the TASE has risen 25% from just over NIS 800 billion at the end of 2020. Since then the number of companies traded on the TASE has risen 18% from 450 to 530. Since the end of 2018, the value of all the companies traded on the TASE has risen by more than 40%,” according to Globes.

How safe is TASE? I am getting older and for the first time, it seems that income from work is disappearing and I'm becoming dependant on savings. That is natural, but frightening. World inflation is worrying. In Argentina, it is 45% per year, yet people live and most are happy.

Lebanon Meltdown

Lebanon has no centrally generated electricity after the country's biggest two power stations shut down due to a fuel shortage. "The Lebanese power network completely stopped working at noon today, and it is unlikely that it will work until next Monday, or for several days,".

Lebanon used to be the most prosperous country in the Middle East. Amazing.

My dilemma with the Climate Crisis

Akio Kitoh, Akiyo Yatagai, and Pinhas Alpert First super-high-resolution model projection that the ancient “Fertile Crescent” will disappear in this century, Hydrological Research Letters 2, 1-4 DOI: 10.3178/HRL.2.1, 2008.

Abstract: The first full projections of rainfall and streamflow in the “Fertile Crescent” of the Middle East are presented in this paper. Up until now, this has not been possible due to the lack of observed data and the lack of atmospheric models with sufficient resolution. An innovative super-high-resolution (20-km) global climate model is employed, which accurately reproduces the precipitation and the streamflow of the present-day Fertile Crescent. It is projected that, by the end of this century, the Fertile Crescent will lose its current shape and may disappear altogether. The annual discharge of the Euphrates River will decrease significantly (29-73%), as will the streamflow in the Jordan River. Thus countermeasures for water shortages will become much more difficult.

I am working on a Runoff Management report for Moshav Zeitan (near Lod Airport) and researching data. I found that runoff problems are going to be less severe - that in direct contradiction of the "Earth Climate Change" hysteria, and popular belief. I am wondering if the Ministry bureaucrats, whose approval I am seeking, will accept my plan. Till now I tended to go with the conventional nonsense (see pic) and my submissions were approved without resistance.

Old man dreaming

 Friedman:

But what if the U.S. or Israel feels it has to strike Iran’s nuclear program in the middle of what could be the worst energy winter since 1973? And what if Iran responds by firing at U.S. or Western oil tankers in the Persian Gulf, where Qatar, the world’s largest exporter of liquefied natural gas, resides? Oil and gas prices will go into the stratosphere. So, Iran suddenly has new leverage: Hit us and you bankrupt the world.

Friedman thinks that there will be a gas crunch this winter. Prices will jump (=inflation).

I dreamt we were visiting my grandfather's house in Jaszbereny. An elderly Christian couple was living in it. We were leaving I gave them all my money and they asked more for scratching something. Not a full nightmare but woke rather bitter. Hungary's population is lower than in my grandfather's time, and there has been little new construction, especially in provincial towns. Elderly Christian couples live and maintain the disappeared Jew's homes.

The pic may refer to Hemingway's Old Mand and the Sea, by an artist from India. Or maybe a Jungian dream, shared by all humanity. Figures of lions are omnipresent in the Antiquity.

Money Losing Power

In Israel, the main categories in the consumer price index are Housing (25.2 percent of the total weight) and Transport and Communication (20.6 percent). Food accounts for 16.5 percent; Education, Culture and Entertainment for 11.7 percent and Dwelling Maintenance for 9.7 percent. Others: Health (5.2 percent); Miscellaneous Goods and Services (4.3 percent); Furniture and Household Equipment (3.7 percent) and Clothing and Footwear (3.1 percent).  Official inflation rates, therefore, refer mostly to items that are of no interest for this old man. I am not in the Housing,  Communications, Furniture, or Education markets. Only Food and Health are relevant for me. On the other hand, all affect my daughters and indirectly, me.

Earth Abides

Ecclesiastes 1:4  "Men go and come, but earth abides."

קהלת:  דּוֹר הֹלֵךְ וְדוֹר בָּא, וְהָאָרֶץ לְעוֹלָם עֹמָדֶת

My fav crown princess.
